Dreaming of Bali

Tomorrow we depart for some tropical down time on the island of Bali and my thoughts are already turning to the friendly faces of the beautiful Balinese people, truly the greatest asset of this tourist haven.

Our dear friend Pak Samiratha will massage our bodies and soothe our souls ...

Once again we will enjoy watching the dance performances and hopefully find some local art for our walls back home ...

There will be plenty to admire on the walks along the beach ...

... and down the side streets the shops will beckon ...

The exotic flowers will totally enchant us as always ...

The fabulous fruit will delight our taste buds at breakfast and throughout the day ...

We will travel to the lush green countryside and appreciate the real Bali and reflect on how it was when we first visited over 30 years ago.

Although it will be humid and steamy and probably rain quite often, the lush green foliage will be such a visual treat after the dry, parched land of an Australian summer ...

The carved stone statues and painted wooden idols add to the charm of Bali...

I will place an offering to one of the the many Gods for you ...

... and admire the sunset as we sip a cocktail or two.

  Cheers dears!

So, after all that reminiscing I had now best get real as they say and think about actually packing for this holiday I have been dreaming about ...

Selamat Malam
