It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ...

Can't believe it is just over two weeks 'til Christmas - just where did 2012 go?
It has really snuck up on me this year and I have even been guilty of wondering if I needed to make the effort to decorate
Perhaps we could be low key this year ?

But that's not the spirit, so with lots of encouragement from the grandchildren the stockings are hung, the tree has gone up and the house is trimmed and of course I am glad and of course it matters.

Each year I admire all the stunning designer trees with their stylish ornaments and more modern colour themes and consider a revamp of our boxes and boxes of assorted decorations collected over the past 40 years. But each one tells a story and my daughter remembers her favourites and now her three offspring claim ownership to certain treasures - and surely that is what counts, after all.

Like many folk in Australia we carry on the traditions of our childhood and continue to decorate as if we lived in a colder climate. We still plan the Christmas feast of roast turkey and glazed ham even though Christmas day is often in the high 30's (celsius) temperature wise!

And this is the closest thing to snow we are going to see in our neck of the woods
One year maybe a White Christmas would be fun?

And on a lighter note, as I finished the marathon decorating effort I noticed one of the vintage bears in a set of three was missing.

Sure enough our little dachshund puppy, Olive, had decided this was her idea of fun !

Seasons Greetings to you all ...

Blog for a Dog !

Yesterday our new puppy came to live with us and how very thrilled we are ...
I would like to introduce Olive, a smooth haired, black and tan, miniature dachshund ... and with a face as sweet as this what more do I need to say?!
