Love Hermes

After happily wandering all afternoon around the 1st and 8th arrondissements, I happened to find myself on the Hermes corner at 24 Faubourg Saint Honore at the very moment the Autumn windows were to be launched.

There was a real buzz in the air as everyone waited for the unveiling of the main double window that is always so visually exciting.
Taking a deep breath, I decided to act like the paparazzi and get up really close and take some photos - I must have looked hilarious, but I told myself no one knows you - or cares - so enjoy it!
And I really did ...

This woman opened the windows - think she might be an actress?

Leila Menchari has been the Director of Decor at Hermes since 1978 and creates the 13 new windows each season.
She says the windows are like pages in a book and the main window is the double spread.
Now 84 (!) she lives in Paris and her birthplace of Tunisia.
Admire some of her past windows on the Hermes website ...

And Tra La! Here is a taste of the new windows ...

The windows are decorated in metallics, mainly silver, very sculptural and tres fabulous. The back wall has a moving sheet of shimmering water ...

More elegance in a stunning silver sari...

Pretty certain the tall one was a man - how about the heels?

How about a pair of these very smart slacks, Braize, for the summer months down in Dunny Do ?  Oui ?

A smaller window with another wonderful sculptural piece showcasing the Hermes china.

Hermes began in 1837 and continues to produce the majority of its goods in France. They are mostly made by hand in medium sized ateliers by superb craftsmen - and the quality shows !
I always appreciate the opportunity to enjoy the design and workmanship, even if it is just by window shopping ...
 Merci Hermes ...
