As Cole Porter's iconic song says,
I love Paris in the Springtime,
I love Paris in the Fall...
So, on the 31st August I set off to do just that.
My very long flight from Perth to Paris, via Singapore and Doha, was made a whole lot easier by a most welcome gesture of an upgrade from Qatar Airways. Merci beaucoup !
My feet up, a glass of champagne, a couple of non cerebral movies and a catch up on Mad Men sure helped the time pass quickly!
The temperature may have been 30 something degrees at midnight on the ground in Doha, but it was very pleasant in the Premier Lounge.
Mint tea and dates and time for a little lie down !
Next thing it was Charles de Gaulle airport and an easy ride to the city.
My address in the Marais.
The big blue doors are mine for a week ...
45 stairs to climb, but I tell myself they help justify the daily baguette - and those inevitable pastries.
The one bedroom apartment is attractive and well equipped. It is also well located in the very heart of the lively Marais.
This is one of the properties on my list of recommendations if you happen to be planning a trip this way.
My view into the courtyard.
Being at the rear of the building makes it so quiet at night.
Out to stock up on food and some autumn flowers.
Then off to meet up for drinks with the Readheads on their last night in Paris.
So good to see Alexandra again and hear her exciting plans for next year.
Susan and Craig in the evening light at the Bistrot des Comperes where we enjoyed a tasty meal.
And so ends the first day of autumn ...
