A Walking Tour with a Difference

If you are looking for a different slant on Paris and its literary side join a walking tour with expat Aussie author, John Baxter.
Born in Sydney he married a French woman, Marie - Dominique and has lived in Paris for 28 years.
                                                                                                           John Baxter

Five of us met at 10am at the Danton statue near the Odeon in the 6th and for almost three hours we were informed, amused and thoroughly entertained by John's colourful stories.

We stopped for a coffee at le zinc which is what they call standing at the counter like the locals.

Wendy and Deirdre with their cafe noisettes.

We were shown back streets and hidden court yards, historic alleys and arcades ...

Then it was back to the Baxter's comfortable apartment for a tasty lunch with a glass of wine and more tales of characters from history, books and the movies.

Their apartment terrace has wonderful views across the Paris rooftops to Notre Dame and Sacre Couer.
Rare books fill every nook and cranny and add to the ambience.

Just another recommendation for your next Paris visit ...

  1. Love the look of those vintage books in the window - if you're looking for extra weight in your luggage, JoJo......

  2. Thought of you often on this tour Mickel - so many beautiful old books. He also has a collection of rare publications. If only I had not already exceeded my luggage allowance ! x
