Remembering Roussillon

Loved the Luberon region of Provence, but a stand out town was Roussillon, which has been included in the list of the most beautiful villages in France.

Located next to one of the world's largest ochre deposits, the colours of the buildings reflect this fact.
It is almost more Tuscan looking than French with its terracotta, mustard and earthy paint shades made from the pigments of the various ochre powders.

                                                                                                                    The town hall

                                                                         The charming church

The lavender is about to bloom

A coffee break with my friend Kirsten Vinther, formerly from Denmark and who now lives in Spain. She drove over 1,200 kilometres to catch up after 33 years !  Thanks Kirsten.

Truly, a magical place ...
