Wednesday in Paris

First stop this morning was an old favourite,the Musee de l'Orangerie.

Mainly to once again be delighted by 

Claude Monet's Les Nympheas, 

but also for the stunning 

Jean Walter - Paul Guillaume Collection down stairs.

Next we enjoyed a long,
but interesting stroll through the 
Jardins des Tuileries.

 I am always impressed by IM Pei's vision with his glass pyramid at the Louvre.

 Lunch was at le Cafe Marly on the splendid verandah.
Although it is supposed to be Spring here in Paris,the staff kindly offered 
cosy red blankets to keep our knees warm.

 Paused for drinks at Cafe Nemours 
in Place Colette and 
watched the world go by ...

Daniel Buren's black and white sculpture continues to please my eye.

How lovely is this avenue of trees
 in the 

Jardin du Palais Royal ?

The model had those legs we all 

should have been born with, 

but she did look a bit cold!

Fun at the Eiffel Tower

You certainly know you are in Paris when you spend a few hours, as I did yesterday,at the Champs de Mars and the Trocadero.

The lengths some folk will go to for that photo with the Tower in the background!

 

Always love an old fashioned carousel- there are two at this site.

How many of these mini metal towers must be sold each day?

 This amused me for some reason ...

 Newly engaged and visiting from Indonesia, this couple certainly made a fun picture.

This sweet young couple, Nancy and De, had great fun attempting to capture the ultimate picture as a momento of their special time in Paris. 
I will happily send them my photos too.

 

The Eiffel Tower continues to lure thousands of locals and tourists alike.
7 million each year, in fact!
And to think it was to be dismantled after the Exposition Universelle in 1889.
It was just fortunate that its huge antennae was considered so vital to French radio telegraphy.
Gustav Eiffel was said to exclaim that "France will be the only country with a 
300 metre flagpole". 

That is some flagpole!

Settling in to the Marais

It only takes a heartbeat to feel like you belong back in Paris - well,this is the case with my over active imagination,anyway ...

Storage for suitcases and coats

A very well equipped kitchen is ideal for preparing breakfast 
or, on those nights your feet hurt and you just want to eat in and relax!

Handy appliances such as a hot plate, micro wave,dish washer,filter coffee maker,etc. 
There is even ground coffee and daily basics such as cleaning agents,loo paper,etc.
 

A combined washer/dryer means you can wash and wear your clothes - saves packing extra!
There is also a TV with BBC,CNN,etc and a DVD player

  The bathroom has a shower,basin and WC and is compact,
 but most functional.

Excellent hanging space and shelving - sure beats a small hotel room at a comparable price.

 If anyone is interested, I am able to book a number of most appealing one and two bedroom apartments,
just like this.
