Vive la France ...

Paris is hurting and so are we ...

Although I am so very sad for those suffering such loss and pain, I also reflect on all the positive and happy times I have enjoyed and hope to again one day.

Here are just a few random photos from the thousands I have enjoyed creating during past visits ...

I love Paris because you can have a poem composed just for you ...

I love Paris because the people can be cheeky and fun
- and the statues are rather special ...

I love Paris as this dear man wanted me to photograph
him feeding the birds near the Sacre Coeur ...

I love Paris because big men can happily walk little dogs ...

I love Paris because the street art can be interesting ...

I love Paris because I watched this man sharing his pasta
with his dog as if it was a perfectly acceptable thing to do ...

I love Paris for these delicious Portugese tarts served warm
from the oven by the charming owner of Comme a Lisbonne
in the marvellous Marais ...

I love Paris because sights like this mother "dinkying"
her mini me daughter through the back streets of the Marais
make me pause a while - and smile ...

I love Paris because you can dance down by the River Seine
and who wouldn't with legs like these ...

I love Paris because I managed to take this photo
and receive some nice comments about it ...

I love Paris because people are willing to pose for a photo for your photography course
 - what great hair ...

I love Paris because this is a scenario being played out all over the beautiful city every day ...

I love Paris because there is always music on the streets
for all to enjoy ...

I love Paris because the flowers always bring such joy ...

I love Paris for all its charm and cafes and characters ...

I love Paris because "Just Married" couples
 can celebrate like this ...

I love Paris because carousels still matter ...

We love you Paris and stand by your side

Burano ( part two )

The quaint and quirky island of Burano provides a visual feast for the travel photographer with its customary cats ...
... and laundry that seems to match the wall colour

... and then there are the entrance curtains with a variety that rather fascinated me - as the following will show!!

Even the occasional patch of peeling paint
had a certain pleasing aesthetic

There are many attractive cafes and restaurants

And when the day trippers leave and the light fades a little ...

I paused and reflected how lovely it is and how lucky I am
I had always wanted to see Burano and I am so glad I now have ...

But it is time to leave now ...

On the last ferry boat

 Arrivederci Burano

Across the lagoon to Venice
with a great big sigh ...
